Bandung
I spent the remaining Raya 08 at Bandung, which was planned the moment Air Asia launch cheap tickets. From KL, my return flight was charged at RM440 per head so it wasn’t that cheap but since it coincides with my holidays, I’d reckoned it’s worth it. Bandung appeals to many as a shopping paradise but of course what appeals to others may not appeal to you. Hotels aren’t that cheap either, but maybe because I came during festive season so they hike up the price. Note to myself, don’t go during festive seasons.
Apart from that, when we arrived the whole Bandung population was also in the post-Eid mode. I asked our taxi man to bring me to all the top shopping spots in Bandung. I went to heritage, Summit, Rumah Mode, etc…
There are plenty of immitation bags and shoes, so it felt funny that the whole Bandung population is carrying either fake LV, Gucci and Channel so it sort of turned me off. By the way, quality of our Petaling Street fakes are better because we got our merchandise from Thailand and Korea, and cheaper too, because when I got a Gucci purse for RM50 after bargain but in PS I could’ve got it at RM20! he he….so when it comes to ‘immis’, Malaysia still rules! But Bandung reigns in terms of clothes. I understood now why it appeals to mothers with children because kids clothes are very cheap. T shirts are going at RM10-20 per piece and they were branded goods, dejected items from factories but still very good and have 99% life wear to it. So are men shirts, jeans, women’s wear – I think they have the whole textile bargain going on in Bandung making clothes the ultimate thing to shop. I told hubby that
This is what I also brought along in my journey:
and my sturdy, reliable pashmina to keep me warm on plane :
After much hype, I would rate bandung as a shopping paradise
